What type of products do you use?
We use Evrly Beauty Products that are personally sourced and salon tested.
Our lashes are 100% polyester fiber extensions. They are called “mink” and “silk” to differentiate between the different types but they are synthetic. We stock an extremely wide variety of lash lengths, thicknesses and curls. This ensures that we can give you the look that’s right for you, not just what’s popular.
Our adhesives are made using the same ingredients found in medical-grade adhesives. Ethyl cyanoacrylate, and polymethyl methacrylate properties are a family of strong bonding, and fast-acting adhesives. This kind of adhesive is indicated for use of semi-permanent lash extension application.
Are there any side effects?
Yes. Some clients experience a slight tenderness of the eyelid right after the initial application. If this tenderness or tightness does occur, no need to worry. It will soften within a day or two. Some people can develop an allergic reaction to the adhesive (5% of the population is allergic to cyanoacrylates). It usually presents after 3-4 exposures (3-4 months after initial application) to the adhesive. The prior exposure can include times you were exposed before you had your lashes done at Wink Lash Studio.
If you develop an allergy, you will most likely experience swelling or puffy eyes the day after your third or fourth lash application. Discharge or oozing is usually not a symptom of the allergy; the whites of your eyes remain clear. This condition cannot be avoided by changing brands of adhesive. It will occur every time lashes are applied to an allergic person using the adhesive.
If you experience this, you are advised to contact a doctor for a prescription for a topical medication that can be used to prevent the inflammation from reoccurring at the times of fills or subsequent applications. Clients can continue to enjoy lash extensions with the allergy when using the topical medication. We provide referrals to physicians we trust.
How long will my lashes last?
The majority of our clients return every 4 weeks, while others prefer to come in every 2-3 weeks. This can vary depending on how fast an individual’s lashes grow as well as how a person takes care of them. Please note that after 5 weeks, a full set is required as any extensions still on will need to be removed due to lash growth.
Do lash extensions pull out your natural lashes?
When applied skillfully with precise bonding and placement, extensions will not pull out your own lashes prematurely. Each lash grows at it’s own unique rate, and extensions should grow out and shed with each lash as it would if no extension were on it. When careful isolation is not practiced, groups of lashes will get stuck together and fall out in clumps resulting in lash loss. Our lashes are known to shed singly.
How many lashes do you put on?
We do not count lashes at Wink. We strive to get an extension on each and every one of your own lashes. Because we stock a wide variety of lashes, we can customize the fullness to your liking. Some guests do not have naturally full lashes to begin with while other guests do not want super full lashes. Whatever your preference, our goal is to make them look authentic and like they are naturally yours.
What should I do before my appointment?
Please come in with clean, makeup free eyes. If you do not have time to remove your makeup, we can do so for you. Please do not curl your lashes before coming in as this can make it harder to get a flush bond. If you can, please avoid caffeine prior to your appointment as it can make your eyes twitch during the lash application.
How long will it take?
We all have many years of experience applying lash extensions. You can expect your first appointment, to take anywhere from 1.5-2 hours for a full set. After that fills can vary from an hour to an hour and a half.
Can I wear contacts and makeup with extensions?
YES! We believe that lash extensions should make your life easier, not complicated with restrictions. The only product we ask you to avoid is waterproof mascara, as it is extremely hard to remove and builds up around the extensions.
Do I have to avoid water?
Absolutely not! You won’t have to worry about mascara running any longer. Go swimming, get a facial, or relax in a sauna. Our lash extensions hold up well with water and humidity. Excessive enjoyment of these activities cause more “wear and tear” on lash extensions but do not need to be avoided.
